How nice is it to see our local hawthorn at Kippford voted tree of the year 2021 by the Woodland Trust.
Lots of great memories for the Glenna family
We can all remember many happy days walking along the Kippford path to the shell beach before sometimes setting off to Rough Island across the sands on a calm day, remembering to get back in time, well before the deceptively fast tide turned. We still visit on a regular basis, it’s a great place to wind down.
We are lucky enough to have this wonderfully windswept Scottish hawthorn on our doorstep just a short drive from the studio. It’s the perfect location to sit back on one of the granite rocks and just take in the view. Dumfries & Galloway has breath-taking scenery and Kippford and the Solway Coast is still a largely undiscovered secret little corner of South West Scotland with bags of character.
Which Birth Tree Are You?
The Hawthorn tree signifies optimism in the Celtic calendar of trees with each month being represented by a birth tree. We think it thoroughly deserves to be UK tree of the year and perhaps even European Tree of the year too. It’s a local favourite with many families in Dumfries & Galloway and will always be a special place for Glenna and the family to visit. Click on the image to see your birth tree.
Kippford and the Solway Coast is a great place to base yourself for a fun outdoor holiday for all ages, we love it and are sure you will too. If you are visiting Scotland and, in the area, pop into our new Glenna Studios designer jewellers showroom and shop at 175 King street Castle Douglas, Dumfries & Galloway and say hello, we would love to hear your stories.
Have a great trip
