Jewellery care guide
Welcome to the Glenna studios how to care for your jewellery guide. We thought we could write down a few tips to make sure you get the best from your new jewellery and how to keep it in its best condition for years to come.
Silver and gold are classed as ‘softer’ metals, so can over time be accidentally damaged and scratched through incorrect storage or simply day to day wear. Being careful with your jewellery will ensure that your purchase lasts a lifetime but don’t worry too much, we all want to wear our jewellery after all so enjoy it!
To keep your Glenna studios earrings, rings, pendants or bracelets in tip top shiny condition it is always a good idea to store each piece of jewellery separately to prevent them from knocking and scratching each other. Enclosing each piece in an airtight bag will also reduce the natural process of tarnishing.
Tarnishing is caused by Chemicals, air pollution and other abrasive liquids such as hairspray, creams, toothpaste, deodorants or household cleaning products and affects all types of silver and gold jewellery and can easily be combated by polishing. The best way to polish a piece of silver or gold jewellery is lightly with a soft jewellery polishing cloth. This removes any chemicals that build up over time help keep that lovely Glenna studios shine.
So, good storage and regular light cleaning of your silver or gold will keep your jewellery looking perfect for years to come, but if you are ever in doubt it’s always best to ask your local jeweller for advice.
